Sai

A metal truncheon with both tangs pointed in the same direction.

Kunishi no Sai was filmed in the southland dojo probably around 1999.

Uhugushiku was filmed with a walk-through, slow and simplified with tennis balls on the tangs to help see the rotation.

Sizing

There are obviously different schools of thought but essentially, we recommend the Sai do not extend more than an inch past your elbow when the long in is folded back.

If the sai extend longer than this, you run the risk of catching your eye, glasses, chest and belly. A very svelte man with long arms can have longer sai but a man with small arms and a big belly cannot afford that.

As an example, I am 5'6" and the measurement from the web of my thumb to the tip is about 13.5".
