Oyata Shuffle

​

Oyata Shuffle, the Bunkai Process of Taika Seiyu Oyata has been simplified into an easy-to-use game which helps students understand how to analyze kata and deepen their training. The more one trains in this type of manner, the faster their response time is in an encounter after the event moves from the initial motions. This method was originally taught to Taika Seiyu Oyata by his two post-war instructors Uhugushiku and Wakinaguri. The original method was in using scrolls he inherited, and Taika made a more randomized method with small photographs. With the advent of Print on Demand services such as makeplayingcards.com, it is relatively easy for you to take pictures of the kata in your system and upload them, and within a short time have a deck of cards to shuffle. I frequently teach this at seminars. If you do not have the time or equipment to film your own kata motions, there is the Oyata Shuffle Deck which has all core and in-between motions from the twelve kata within his kyu curriculum. They are available in standard Poker Deck as well as the large Tarot Deck. I make no royalties off these decks.

Tuite Pick Cards

​

All of the techniques in the book, Six Basic Principles of Tuite, are found in a deck of cards. Each technique has the corresponding page number if you wish to reference the book. These were made as a way to shuffle the deck and randomly pick techniques in class.
